Iceland may not be the first destination that comes to mind when most people think about cruising — but when a client recently asked me about exploring this unique island by sea, I was intrigued. It’s one of those places that feels almost otherworldly: glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls, and endless open skies.

Since Iceland isn’t my usual go-to client destination, I did what every good travel advisor should — I reached out to my trusted network of travel experts. One of the best parts of being in this business is having access to colleagues who specialize in different corners of the world. Together, we compared notes and narrowed down the top cruise lines that offer the best ways to experience Iceland in comfort and style.

Viking Cruises – Known for its relaxed, educational style and excellent guided excursions. A perfect match for travelers who enjoy cultural immersion and comfort.

Windstar Cruises – Yacht-style cruising that feels casual and personal. Ideal for those who prefer a smaller ship with a friendly, easygoing atmosphere.

Seabourn – Elegant, all-inclusive, and service-focused. Perfect for travelers who want a pampered experience with a touch of exploration.

Scenic Eclipse – The ultra-luxury “discovery yacht.” Think spa days, fine dining, and small-group explorations — for travelers who want top-of-the-line comfort. This did come with mixed reviews.

The best time to visit Iceland depends on your interests: June through August is ideal for warm weather, hiking, and the midnight sun, while September through March is best for seeing the Northern Lights. For a mix of both, consider the shoulder seasons of May or September, which offer fewer crowds and a chance to experience both summer and winter activities.

Pricing for 2026 typically ranges from about $6,500 to $15,000 per person, depending on itinerary length, ship, and cabin category.
