What If You Said Yes a Little More Often?
Recently, I spent a girls’ day kayaking on Tomales Bay. Nothing exotic, no airport security, no packing a suitcase. Just a beautiful day on the water, good company, and the chance to do something a little different.
It doesn't have to be an elaborate vacation or an expensive getaway. A day trip, a weekend away, or even a staycation can give you that same feeling of anticipation and adventure. Sometimes we get so caught up in our everyday routines that we forget how many wonderful experiences are waiting practically in our own backyard.
So back to my original questions-what if you said yes more often? Maybe you’ve always wanted to try kayaking, take a cooking class, visit a nearby town, or finally book that trip you've been talking about for years. Maybe you'd love a weekend with your girlfriends, a solo getaway, or a few days somewhere beautiful with your partner.
Or maybe you simply need a change of scenery and an afternoon that doesn't involve your usual errands.
Whatever it is, consider this your gentle nudge to go for it.
Invite a friend to explore somewhere new. Look for a local food or wine experience. Visit a museum you've driven past a hundred times. Take a scenic drive with no particular agenda.
Find a new walking trail, book a spa day, or plan a little overnight escape.
And if your friends aren't available? Don't automatically put the idea on hold. Traveling solo or enjoying an activity on your own can be surprisingly rewarding, too.
It's Not About Age. It's About Possibility.
You don't need to run a marathon, climb a mountain, or backpack across a foreign country to prove anything to anyone. (Although if that's your thing, more power to you!)
You just need to find what makes you feel alive, curious, and excited to get out of bed in the morning.
So, What's Your Next Adventure?
I'd love for you to think about one thing you've been wanting to do, somewhere you've been meaning to visit, or an experience you've been putting off.
Because we're not getting any younger ladies, and I don't know about you but I'd rather spend my time collecting experiences than waiting for the perfect moment.
