As a travel agent I am often asked-where my favorite travel destination or favorite vacation spot is. And honestly there are too many to narrow it down to just one. But I can narrow it down to a few.

This may surprise many of you but Yosemite Valley is one of my absolutes favorite vacation spots. Yosemite Valley is a breathtaking masterpiece of nature, with towering granite cliffs, cascading waterfalls, ancient sequoia trees, and a vastness beyond imagination. I have many fond memories of traveling there as a child with my parents and siblings and later bringing my son who also now has a huge appreciation of this incredible work of nature.

Kona, Hawaii when my mother was alive this was a yearly family vacation destination and I will always have fond memories of quality time with my mother. Kona ranks high on my favorites.

There is Paris of course! And pretty much any city in Italy. But one of my absolute favorite destinations was Marrakech, Morocco. The food-couscous, pastilla, lemon chicken, lamb shish kebab, and the mint tea. I grew up with a Moroccan family in my neighborhood and learned to appreciate the Moroccan cuisine at a very young age.

Must visit:

Atlas Mountain range and berber villages-Hire a guide, enjoy a moderate hike, and enjoy a light lunch with a berber family.

Agafay Desert – A rocky desert just outside Marrakech, offering camel rides, luxury camps, and sunset views. *I literally belly laughed riding a camel-touristy yes but oh so much fun. (Photo is of me on a camel)

Essaouira-A historical beach town, with fresh seafood restaurants, art and shops. Stop and visit the goats in tree's and argan oil shop on your way.

La Mamounia Restaurant-a very popular restaurant and resort serving a traditional Moroccan dinner. Some say overrated I disagree. We had a great meal, great servers and the dining rooms are decorated in the traditional Moroccan design Including sitting on cushions.

Medina & Souks – A maze of lively colorful markets selling everything from spices and textiles to handmade crafts and jewelry. This can be a little overwhelming with so many individual shops, so many items to purchase. I have a pair of sandals purchased in 2019 that I still wear to this day.

A side note of this post is as much as I enjoyed my trip to Morocco this is a one and done trip. I loved my stay there but I do not feel the need to go back.
