Thinking About a Sonoma Getaway?

Sonoma isn’t a do-all-the-things kind of destination. It’s a slow down, wander a little, stay for one more glass kind of place. Two scheduled tastings is ideal-three can be a bit much. And because we are a little more casual in Sonoma than Napa-many of our tasting rooms do not require reservations.

If you want to add a third you can find a "walk ins welcome" winery, there are plenty. But with just two reservations you are not overscheduled and rushing from one to another. And be sure to leave time for lunch there are many fabulous restaurants to choose from. (See suggestions below)

What makes Sonoma special is the balance. It’s polished without being pretentious, luxurious without being flashy. You can spend a morning doing absolutely nothing (highly recommended), then head into Healdsburg for dinner where the wine list is serious but the vibe is relaxed. This is wine country living at its best—easy, beautiful, and effortlessly chic.

Planning Without Overplanning Your Trip to the Wine Country

When you’re in the early stages of dreaming up a Sonoma getaway, using AI to help get your ideas flowing is actually a great place to start. It can help you understand the regions, spark inspiration, and organize the basics. But here’s the thing—Sonoma shines brightest in the in-between moments. The hidden tasting rooms, the scenic shortcuts, the places you won’t find on a standard list.

That’s where thoughtful planning (and a little insider knowledge) makes all the difference. Start with the dream, leave room for spontaneity, and trust that the best moments in Sonoma are often the ones you didn’t know to look for yet.
