Unexpected surprise-Shimizu a city I was not familiar with but loved! Mt. Fuji, beaches, the architecture and of course temples.

Favorite thing about Japan-the people. They are so kind. And even if they speak very little English they will stop to try to help you.

First excursion was in Hakodate-and what an immersion into local culture it was! First we stopped by the Morning Market where locals shop for fresh fish-fabulous! Then we walked the city to find an Orthodox Church.

Our mother was Russian Orthodox so of course we had to take a photo (traveling with my sister).

And of course I came upon a Starbucks and had to take a photo-who knew?!

**A note to first time cruisers-weather can change all of your plans-embrace change, go with the flow, relax and appreciate that you are blessed to have the opportunity to travel💕

What that means is more food, more wine but also a perfect time to relax, people watch and catch up on fun beach reads.

The funny thing about this cruise traveler is that I like cruising for the convenience of visiting multiple cities and only unpacking once.

Ironically I do not enjoy the free shows (which BTW most cruisers love), the games, formal nights the special events etc. so I am not your average cruiser.

My point is there are many reasons to choose cruising-talk to your travel agent and find out if it isright for you✨✨

Day 1:
☀️Arrive a day early to make sure I make it to the ship on time.
⛴️ First impression, the ship is very dated but clean.
😱Throw away your itinerary plans as a typhoon heads our way and changes our course completely-heading north instead of south to avoid high seas. Favorite cities?!-kabashed!
🍽️ The food is surprisingly good for being such a large ship and so many mouths to feed.

I am a very flexible traveller, the schedule change was a minor disappointment. But first time travelers be ware, weather and other factors can alter your trip. Be prepared, be flexible and find alternative ways to make the trip memorable.

It all started on a solo flight home after visiting my son in Europe. Somewhere over the Atlantic, I realized two things: I love to travel… and I’d rather share those adventures with someone else. Since waiting around for a travel buddy (or Prince Charming) wasn’t my style, I decided to create my own company—and bring other amazing women along for the ride!

My first business was called 50 is Just a Number (because it is!), but now that I’m 60, it’s officially Kilian Travel and Lifestyle. My focus? Planning unforgettable, personalized trips—whether it’s a luxe getaway, a peaceful cruise, or an epic sporting event.
