Everyone's Talking About Malta (and Why It Might Be Your Next Favorite Spot)

If you’ve noticed Malta popping up more and more in your social feeds and travel magazines, you’re not imagining it. This tiny island nation in the Mediterranean has quietly become one of Europe’s hottest travel destinations—and for good reason.
So, why is Malta suddenly on everyone’s radar?
Malta may be tiny (you can drive across it in under an hour), but it’s packed with ancient history, turquoise waters, and charming villages. You’ll find UNESCO World Heritage sites, vibrant festivals, and some of the oldest temples in the world—all within reach. For travelers who like a bit of everything—beach time, culture, and adventure—Malta checks every box.
Sun, sun and more sun. With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, it’s no wonder Malta is a favorite for sun-seekers. It’s a year-round destination, which means fewer crowds in the off-season and the perfect escape from those chilly winters.
From a previous post I mentioned how TV shows are popularizing travel destinations and that includes Malta. Malta was one of the early filming locations for Game of Thrones (remember King’s Landing in season one?), and fans have been flocking ever since. But even if you’ve never seen a single episode, the dramatic fortresses and sea cliffs will still blow you away.
It still feels like the hidden gem. Unlike some European hotspots that feel a bit too discovered, Malta still has that “found it before everyone else” vibe—especially if you venture over to the smaller sister islands of Gozo and Comino. Think fewer crowds, more local charm, and Instagram-worthy lagoons without the fight for a sun lounger.
Safe travels my friends, and remember we are here for you to plan that next memorable vacation.
Warmly,
Karen
