Holiday Travel & Jet Lag: How to Win

Holiday travel is exciting… until your body thinks it’s 3:00 a.m. while everyone else is ordering dinner. Jet lag happens to the best of us, but a few simple tricks can make it far less dramatic.

Hydrate like it’s your job

Planes are basically flying deserts. Drink water often and go easy on alcohol until you’ve adjusted.

Chase the sunlight

Sunlight helps reset your internal clock. Get outside as soon as you arrive—even a short walk can work wonders.

Nap smart (or don’t)

If you must nap, keep it short—20–30 minutes max. Otherwise, power through until a reasonable local bedtime.

Move a little

Stretch on the plane, walk the terminal, or take a gentle stroll after arrival. Movement tells your body it’s time to wake up and explore.

Bottom line:

Jet lag doesn’t have to steal your holiday joy. With a little planning, lots of water, and a sense of humor, you’ll be sipping coffee—or something stronger—on local time in no time.

Happy travels and smooth landings!
