Over the years — and especially living in wine country where we’ve seen the impact of fires and community rebuilding — I’ve come to believe that travel can be something deeply meaningful. It can support recovery after disasters, uplift local women-owned businesses, and help communities rebuild stronger than before.

For many women, choosing a destination that gives back just feels right. It adds purpose to the passport stamps.

Costa Rica – Eco-Tourism That Protects Communities & Nature

Costa Rica has built its tourism model around sustainability, conservation, and community involvement. Many eco-lodges fund local schools, wildlife protection, and women-led cooperatives.

This is travel that feels good and does good at the same time.

Maui, Hawaii – Visiting with Respect After the Fires

After the devastating wildfires, Maui’s community has focused on rebuilding thoughtfully and sustainably. Tourism plays a vital role in supporting local families, small businesses, and cultural preservation.

Choosing locally owned hotels, restaurants, and excursions helps ensure your dollars stay within the community that needs it most.

Napa & Sonoma, California – Resilience After Wildfires

Living here in wine country, I’ve seen firsthand how wildfires have shaped these communities — and how tourism has helped them recover. Supporting family-owned wineries, boutique inns, and women-led businesses makes a tangible difference.

It’s also a beautiful reminder that travel doesn’t always have to be far to be impactful.

Uganda, Africa

My dear friend Melissa has a group of 19 currently visiting her nonprofit in Africa. Their mission: to improve the lives of children and youth through quality education, health and economics.

Travel with Purpose

Many women I work with aren’t just looking for a vacation anymore. They’re looking for experiences that feel safe, intentional, enriching, and impactful.

Travel can be:

  • Empowering

  • Community-focused

  • Culturally respectful

  • Supportive of local women & small businesses

And sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is simply choose where we spend our travel dollars.

Travel with heart, purpose and respect.
